Using a Chinese Lantern to Cast Beautiful Light

A Chinese lantern can be a really great way to light up your home, a party or special event, especially those indoors or outside after the sun goes down. The light given from these lanterns creates a soft glow and the color of the light will vary depending upon what color paper or fabric is used on the lantern itself.

Lighting from Chinese lanterns is really beautiful and subdued and they create a great ambiance. One event where these lanterns could really serve their purpose is a wedding or wedding reception. Weddings generally have soft lighting from candles but to be a bit different you could add some lanterns into the mix as well.

Chinese lanterns can be hung separately or you could also string them together to create more light. They also come in different sizes that range from quite small to very large. The size you choose will determine where you will be placing them. If you wanted to string them together to create a string of light you’ll want to use a smaller size but if you wanted to make a lantern a focal point of your decor or theme than you may want to opt for a larger size that you can set on a table.

You can buy lanterns from a variety of retailers or you may choose to even make your own. They’re really easy and all you need is colored paper or foolproof fabric, a light post globe and a regular lamp head. Even children could make them.

If you have a special event coming up in the future and you’re looking for a unique way to cast a light on it a Chinese lantern may be the way to go. The light they give off is beautiful and not too much. They are nice because you can actually choose from different colors and styles in order to give off the color that you’re looking for. White light and soft glows are typically used for weddings but if you’re after more of a zen feel than you may opt for a sage green lantern that will cast a soft green light.
