DJ Mixing is More Than Just Knowing the Technical Side of the Job

DJ’s have a bigger job than just spinning CD’s.  They must know how to work a crowd in order to be successful.  While just about anyone can become a DJ, those who can make a great impression are the ones who get the jobs.  DJ’s can work weddings, events or general gigs in nightclubs.  DJ’s can also host Karaoke in clubs and for special private events.  It is usually less expensive to use a DJ for an event as opposed to live music.  If you want to become a DJ, you need to learn the ins and outs of the job like dj mixing and stage presence.  Being a DJ is more than about the technical side of the job.  However, if you learn the technical side of the job well, you could move on to becoming an engineer for a music studio. 

Back in the good old days, DJ’s had the job of spinning records and getting the crowd excited.  Today, technology has given people who want to learn to be a DJ more to learn about easier ways to perform and play music.  There is dj mixing software out there that can make your DJ job a breeze.  You still have to learn how to use the software, but there are some very easy to learn (user friendly) DJ software programs out there.  They can be simple and just play the queued songs as listed, or they can be full blown programs that allow you to edit and mix on the fly while you are working or before you head to the job.
